Visa Formalities

This is how it works
A visa is required for all travellers to Bhutan and is processed & arranged by Eagle
Tours. No foreign mission abroad grants Bhutan tourist visas.

In order for us to process it with concerned authorities, a completed visa application
form must be forwarded to us at least three weeks prior to the date of travel. You can fill
out the form online or download pdf form (62kb) and mail us the completed visa form.

While your visa is cleared in advance the actual visa is stamped on arrival in Bhutan. A
visa clearance number is issued when your visa has been approved.

There is no application fee, only an entry fee paid with your tour payment.

For all travelers, entering Bhutan by Druk Air, the visa clearance number is forwarded
to the concerned overseas Druk Air station. Without the clearance number, passengers
will not be allowed to board the flight. For tour operators  visa clearance is not required
while issuing Druk Air tickets.

For travelers, entering into the country by surface through Phuntsholing (the border
town in south of Bhutan) the visa is stamped on arrival and clearance number is
forwarded to Foreign Ministry's Office at Phuntsholing for reference.

Please ensure that you bring US currency.

Other things to note

For all Fits/GITs travelling during festivals, visa particulars must be sent at least 6
weeks in advance as festivals are peak time for tourists and all tour formalities are
required to be completed well in advance.
